To help institutions adjust to COVID-19 disruptions, the Accreditation Commission for Higher Education (Commission) has updated several rules and processes. These revisions are linked to and compatible with the US Department of Education's (USDE) offer of temporary flexibility to higher education institutions and accreditors and have been authorised by the Executive Committee or Commission as specified. The Commission informed institutions about these changes via email, taped broadcasts, and questionnaires. The schedule for these exemptions is presented below.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a global concern, and the Accreditation Commission for Higher Education (CHEA) has received several enquiries regarding its activities. CHEA recognises that this is a difficult moment for institutions and is dedicated to collaborating with all CHEA members impacted by the shutdown.
CHEA provides the following information as a resource for institutions, peer evaluators, and the general public on the most recent messages, policy waivers, and guidelines.
CHEA also collaborates closely with the U.S. Department of Education to give as much flexibility as feasible in topics pertaining to accreditation. Please see the U.S. Department of Education's COVID-19 Resources for updated and supplementary information.
